This feels like a safe space so I’ll say it - I generally don’t trust people who don’t have room for dessert. It’s like I always say, no one just has time. They make it. Similar to dessert, you don’t always just have room, you probably just need to make it. Or at least, that’s my life philosophy…
welcome to my two-part thanksgiving series where I share plant-forward dishes that are perfect for your Thanksgiving table. if you missed the first installment of savory dishes, you can read that HERE. in this letter, you will be served dessert!
I’m so thrilled to share these recipes with you - they’re seriously some of my favorite that I’ve developed, and are really designed to be shared with your loved ones during this time of year.

Each one of these desserts is designed to be decadent and holiday-forward, but made using all real, simple ingredients and unprocessed sugars, in my typical style. I can’t wait to see these on your Thanksgiving table…I will be in New Zealand for Thanksgiving this year, so I appreciate you cooking and baking on my behalf..PLEASE!
ENJOY and hope you have a a wonderful and delicious Thanksgiving!
Mini Chocolate Pecan Pies
Every food item really does seem more chic in mini form. I love making these pies mini because it makes them so easy to be passed around the table — and they’re really simple to make despite not looking so. They seriously embody the essence of a traditional pecan pie, but made richer with a little hit of chocolate…my dream. These are vegan, gluten-free, made without refined sugar, and absolutely DIVINE.
Cardamom Date Cake with Salted Date Caramel Glaze
No, you’re absolutely right - this is my dream cake! Imagine a fluffy, date caramel sweetened cake with a luscious glaze that carries notes of salted toffee and caramel, yet is totally vegan and can be made in your blender. Yeah…. I actually have nothing more to add. Make this and change your life. Also, if you think you don’t like dates….start here to change your mind. If anyone can do it, I think it might be me.
Cinnamon Apple Date Cake
The combination of cinnamon sugar caramelized apples and chewy dates studded into a moist, cinnamon-sugar cake is pretty much what my fall dreams are made of, what about you? This cake comes together so quickly, and is delicious in the afternoon as a coffee / tea snack, and also as a dessert, warmed with vanilla bean ice cream.
Dark Chocolate Chip Pecan Pumpkin Bread
Ugh, this is my favorite fall loaf. Though I’m not a pumpkin spice obsessed human, somehow this pumpkin loaf has won me over. The texture alone is enough to make both you and I emotional, and the the pumpkin and pumpkin spice is subtle so you don’t have to feel like you’re just eating straight up pumpkin purée (my biggest issue with heavily pumpkin-ed desserts). The pecans and chocolate chips throughout every bite unarguably make eating this loaf a VERY enjoyable experience.
I hope you love these desserts, and can’t wait to see them on your Thanksgiving table. If you need anything or just want to say hi, hit me at samah@dadaeats.com. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
HAPPY COOKING!
