Hi everyone! Happy Friday. Phew. Before we get into this, let’s take a quick second…
Unclench your jaw. Good. Drop your shoulders. Great! Now, deep breath. Okay. Cool. Let’s begin!
I am writing to you from my apartment in New York, feeling a little bit jittery because I’ve got quite a bit of travel coming up (okay, maybe I also accidentally made my coffee a little too strong, lol). More on the travel very soon…
I’m excited to share that I’m starting little series for all of my subscribers to share the things I love with you. So, welcome to Dada Dish! Whether it be something new I discovered at the grocery store, an article of clothing I can’t get enough of, a makeup product I’m obsessed with, or even a book / show / podcast that I think you’ll love too, I’m DISHING it. I’ll also include a little recipe roundup for your weekend if you’re trying to get into the kitchen and make something goooood.
if you’d like the full experience, feel free to subscribe below! thank you for supporting me so that I can support you :) means more than you know!
The Dish
An actually good veggie burger?! I have recently discovered two veggie burgers that I am obsessed with when I truly need a low maintenance dinner. After cooking all day and recipe testing, sometimes I run out of creativity to nourish myself. And that’s just the truuuuth! But it’s okay, we cannot win them all. My two current favorites are Actual Veggies and No Bull. You can find both of them at Whole Foods, or at least I did. They’re tasty, filled with minimal ingredients and zero fillers or weird stuff. Love to see it.
Dr. Gabor Maté. Okay….I am obsessed with this man? If you don’t know who he is, Dr. Maté is a doctor and expert on trauma and addiction. But I think this title that many podcasts / articles give him doesn’t really sum it up... Dr. Maté speaks SO much about how being a people pleaser, not having boundaries, and neglecting self-care can actually make you sick. I have loved these two conversations — on the podcast Diary of a CEO and then another one on Feel Better, Live More, and just ordered his book The Myth of Normal yesterday. Will report back! As a people pleaser myself, I feel like his research & tips have been SO interesting and already transformative.
A creamy eyeshadow stick. I am always SO flattered when someone asks me about the makeup that I use. Truthfully, I love makeup, but I really don’t like wearing a lot of it. I only wear foundation when I’m on set because I hate the way it makes me feel, and I try to keep it as minimal and light as possible when I can. I am sharing a little makeup routine today on Instagram so you can see what I typically like to do. This week I discovered a creamy, beautiful eyeshadow stick by Fenty Beauty. I LOVE it. I think I need it in all the colors but I’m linking the bronze one I bought here. It’s seriously perfect!
Chocolate!!!!! You’ve probably heard me talk about Spring and Mulberry before, but this chocolate is sweetened with DATES. I know, I’m like…say less. The amazing founder, Kathryn, told me a couple years ago that when she was diagnosed with cancer, she cut out all refined sugar and started making my recipes. I was soooo honored and touched when she told me this — the whole journey inspired her to create this gorgeous brand. A lot of folks have asked for a discount and TBH, I don’t really do those things too often BUT I did ask Kathryn for one (lol), if you want to try it! You can use code SAMAH. Linking the site here. My favorites are the date and pecan, mixed berry, and then the classic just for breaking up to melt for recipes!
I get way too many compliments on these jeans. Guys. I love men’s jeans. Well, I love menswear just in general, maybe because I like to drown myself in my clothing…but I digress. I have these jeans in 3 different colors (is that not insane) and they are literally from the GAP. Linking them here. I’m cracking up that I’m sharing them with you, but they are seriously so comfy and I love the fit. You might enjoy them, too.
The Recipes
it’s sweet, studded with chewy dates, balanced with the miso, and a great use for your ripe bananas! don’t let them perish.
I made this on the TODAY SHOW last week, and it was a huge hit. Easy to make, and perfect fresh or chilled as a pasta salad.
A No-Bake Delight: No-Bake Salted Caramel Cookie Dough Slices
I have nothing further to add.

Samah with the Avocado Pesto Pasta, if I don't have fresh basil , could I substitute spinach and add some ground basil to the recipe. I'm not sure on ratios.
Loved this & definitely need to try these recipes!!
