Actually, you have time.
tips on finding pace & peace with your path & timeline. plus, no-bake brownie truffles!!
Hi everyone!! Happy Friday.
How are we feeling? How are we doing? Maybe I’m getting the hang of this newsletter thing. Well, sort of. Sometimes I think to myself…shouldn’t I have this figured out by now? Why don’t I? What if it takes me forever to get it right?
What if it takes me forever to get it right?
Time is an interesting thing. We bargain for it with everything we have, everyday. We want more of it, we can’t get enough of it. But funnily enough, it’s probably one of the only things we have zero control over. And even funnier…it seems like we’re constantly in a rush to pass it.
I often think it can all be summed up by that exact fear — what if it takes me forever to get it right. WHAT IF? What if I don’t get here at this point, get this job at this point, find this partner at this point. IT IS A LOT. It reminds me of the lyrics in this song by LÉON (if you’re an OG you’ll know I’m obsessed)…
Why are we all in a hurry? Like we have somewhere to be? DO WE, really?! Isn’t all of this up to us?
Historically, I have imposed many fake timelines into my life — I guess I should be married by 28 (lol, that ship has sailed…..), have kids by 33, buy a house by 35. There’s a lot of cultural implications and expectations wrapped up in that too (if you’ve seen Indian Matchmaking you might be slightly familiar with the intense, imposed pressures within my culture specifically of getting married - luckily my parents are nothing like that, thank god). Honestly, as I write this, I’m thinking maybe the whole topic of “timelines” is a story for another newsletter…
But for now I’ll say this. It’s taken me a lot of work, time, and regroups with myself to not be bitter with time. Because now I know in time…I’ll be fine.
Working through these little mindset shifts is what I’ll be talking about in the newsletter today. I’ll include some some thoughts / mindset shifts for when you’re feeling like you’re out of breath, and the affirmations I use for myself when I feel that I’m “running out of time.”
I am also sharing a recipe for my brand new No-Bake Brownie Truffles — the PERFECT dessert to make as the seasons change and it gets warmer. You know I live for a little freezer treat.
A quick note on the paid newsletter:
Accessibility is a core value of my work, which is why I’ve set the cost of my Substack at the lowest tier it can go. I want there to be something for everyone. It’s just $5 a month (the price of a latte), or $50 a year ($4.17 a month, a less expensive cup of coffee….). But in this case, this is the coffee (or matcha….okay) that keeps giving. You can always come back here and access the full archive my exclusive content.
Here’s the deal.
You do not have to subscribe to the paid newsletter - there are two options for a reason. In fact, I don’t expect everyone to subscribe to the paid version of this Substack! I know there are a lot of newsletters out there and sheesh, like, I get it. Information overload. But for the first time in my nearly 10 years of posting (free) recipes & content on the internet, it feels exciting and important to me personally to create exclusive content for the smaller, more intimate audience that wants it.
There will always be something for everyone. But I’m grateful to foster this small community that wants to support my work in a totally new way. We get deep. It’s the stuff I’ve always wanted to share on Instagram but don’t always have the space to. And it’s the more vulnerable themes and topics I never talk about publicly, but feel safe to share with this community because it’s waaaaay more intimate and private. Thank you for allowing me the space to explore this new way of creating with you.
P.S.
If the cost isn’t possible for you and you’re interested in the paid version of my Substack, please send me an email (samah@dadaeats.com) and we can figure it out together. I am always here for you.
Okay, now for what you’re here for.
Here are some things to remember when your mind is imposing timelines, deadlines, or overall anxiety inducing markers on your life. We can all use a bit of slowing down. Oh, and while you’re slowing…might be a good time to these No-Bake Brownie Truffles!
Let’s get into it.
